#11 closed defect (fixed)

dsm_sa_eventmgr32d won't start

Reported by: mechanix@… Owned by: bas
Priority: major Milestone:
Version: 5.3.0 Keywords:

Description

/etc/init.d/dataeng start gives me

Starting Systems Management Data Engine:
Starting dsm_sa_datamgr32d:
Starting dsm_sa_eventmgr32d: *

(that's a red asterisk)

In /var/log/messages I have

Feb 29 10:54:06 chiron dataeng: dsm_sa_eventmgr32d startup failed

Is there any way to increase log verbosity?

  • Owner set to bas
  • Status changed from new to assigned

Mostly we execute the script with -x option and do an strace on the daemon.

Strace does not reveal anything useful. Should I email it's output over?

Forgot to mention this: I had to add LD_LIBRARY_PATH=$LD_LIBRARY_PATH:/opt/dell/srvadmin/shared/bin:`dirname ${DAEMON_PFNAME}` in front of the "${DAEMON_PFNAME}" $* call in /etc/init.d/dataeng or neither dsm_sa_datamgr32d and dsm_sa_eventmgr32d would find all libraries they need.

System is Debian Etch amd64 on a PowerEdge? 2950.

Is your /etc/ld.so.conf oke? In /etc/ld.so.conf.d there must be a file dell-omsa.conf that sets the right paths for all the daemons and utilities.
