#63 accepted defect

sali does not honor original dir permissions when creating mount points

Reported by: ramonb Owned by: dennis
Priority: major Milestone: SALI 1.7.0
Component: sali kernel/initrd Version: 1.5.8
Keywords: Cc:

Description

When image contains mount point with certain permissions, i.e.:

  • /scratch mode 1777

Whenever the mount point is created by the SALI install script (mkdir /scratch) it does not honor those permissions. In stead the mount point has the install script umask permissions, i.e.:

  • /scratch mode 7777

This results in /scratch mount point having different permissions as in the image.

This is done by the "partition" command in SALI

        logmsg "partition $DISK1 0:xfs:/scratch:scratch"
        partition $DISK1 0:xfs:/scratch:scratch || shellout

Perhaps there is some way to check and set the original permission's when creating the mount point.

mkdir supports an option -m <mode> i.e.: mkdir -m 1777 /scratch
