I just to make sure what your setup is. I assume your mailserver is on a different host then your trac server? The email2trac package only works when there is also a MTA is running on your trac server.

In mime setup at SARA we one main MTA that forwards it to our MTA on the trac server

So ticket submission is oke. Yoo can email and a ticket is created only you do not get notifications email from trac. Did you update the [notification] section in trac.ini:

Which trac version do you use?

comment:4 Changed 16 years ago by anonymous

trac version 0.10.4

in my trac.ini (below)

[notification] always_notify_reporter = true smtp_always_cc = root@svnserver smtp_enabled = true smtp_from = manish@svnserver smtp_server = svnserver

svnserver is localhost (i just named it in /etc/hosts and all the needed locations)

do i need any changes regarding in postfix mail server and aliases file under /etc dir.

i do i install and check email2trac and implement in trac and also in component section in trac.ini

This is sort of test-procedure:

  • First check is do you get email notification when you submit a ticket via the web interface?
  • Second check is does email2trac work with the test message included in package?
  • Third check is to setup /etc/aliases and the postfix setup and send an email to the address?

Did you did follow this procedure and read the documentation on the web-pages?

i am not getting email-notification after submitting ticaket via web neither from command. is default setting in emai2trac.conf is ok for this perpose?

If you do not get email notfication via the web interface then your trac setup (trac.ini) setup is wrong or you MTA is configured properly. Is has nothing to do with email2trac. When your notifications work via the web interface that you go on with configuring email2trac.

Examine your mail logs or other log files to see what is going wrong and search on the trac-site.

Good Luck

 Did you follow these instructions:

n#TicketUpdate

comment:14 Changed 16 years ago by bas

First can you only update this ticket instead of creating new tickets.

Second when email2trac is not working. I mean when you can not create new ticket via mail. How do expect that ticket updates via email are working?

The only documentation is on the web. What you have to do is read it carefully and do some baby steps:

  • first run email2trac with a test message. Documentation is on the web
  • Then setup your MTA (postfix, sendmail or somthing else) and the aliases file
  • send an email
  • then check the ticket update function.

And not start at the end ;-)
